About FreeInsuranceIQ

Insurance calculators for people who want a real number before they talk to anyone trying to sell them something.

Why we built this

The problem with insurance information online is that almost all of it is designed to collect your contact information. Quote forms, lead generators, comparison sites that get paid per click — they’re built to route you to a salesperson, not to answer your question.

We built FreeInsuranceIQ to give you the number before that conversation — so you can go into any insurance discussion knowing what you should be paying, how much coverage you actually need, and whether what you’re being quoted is reasonable. No email required. No follow-up call. Just the math.

Our eight calculators cover the most common insurance decisions Americans face: life, auto, home, health, renters, disability, long-term care, and term vs. whole life comparison. Each one is built from actuarial methods, government data, and peer-reviewed industry research. We update them when the data changes. We don’t have a sales quota.

How this site works

The calculators

Eight free tools, each covering a major insurance decision:

Every calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server. Your numbers stay on your screen.

Who writes this

FreeInsuranceIQ is produced by a team of insurance researchers and financial writers focused on consumer education. Our independence from carriers and brokers is what makes the information useful — we don’t benefit from steering you toward any particular product or company.

FreeInsuranceIQ Editorial Team

Each calculator is built using actuarial standards, NAIC benchmark data, government agency publications, and peer-reviewed industry research. Content is reviewed quarterly and updated whenever material regulatory or market changes occur.

Research & Data Sources

Our primary sources include the NAIC, LIMRA, Genworth Cost of Care Survey, CMS/Healthcare.gov, the Social Security Administration, the Insurance Information Institute, and J.D. Power insurance studies. Full source citations are listed in our Editorial Policy.

Independence Commitment

We are not affiliated with any insurance carrier, broker, or comparison platform. We receive no referral fees or commissions. Our calculators give independent estimates — not quotes designed to convert you into a lead for a sales funnel.

How we keep the lights on

FreeInsuranceIQ displays Google AdSense advertisements — standard display ads managed entirely by Google, not insurance lead forms or affiliate links to specific carriers. We don’t share your personal information to serve ads because we don’t collect any in the first place.

This model keeps everything free. No paywalls, no email gates, no subscriptions. Every calculator, every article, every table — free, permanently.

One important thing to know

FreeInsuranceIQ's calculators provide estimates only. They are educational tools, not insurance advice. Actual insurance premiums, coverage amounts, and available products vary based on your individual circumstances, location, health history, and insurer.

Before purchasing any insurance policy, consult with a licensed insurance professional in your state. For health insurance, visit healthcare.gov for official enrollment and subsidy information.
